About the Rd PCB

Rd is an open source PCB design by JBlitzar, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 18.5 × 32 mm, with 13 components from 9 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the GL823K-HCY04. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 3 capacitors, 1 IC and 1 LED.

microSD reader

microSD card reader. it exposes microSD cards as a block device that you can read and write to!

Features: - dead-simple schematic thanks to the GL823K chip - green status LED for activity - 4mm keychain hole - supports USB 2.0 HS and microSD HS. 30+ MB/s speeds confirmed!

I made this project because I needed a project scoped to be able to speedrun in 36 hours wall-clock and very little actual working time. It grants me utility-- this way I can read and write to microSD cards super easily in a small form factor, using a dongle I created!! I think microSD cards are uniquely very versatile.…

Rd: common questions

How big is the Rd PCB?

The Rd measures 18.5 × 32 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rd?

13 components, from 9 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rd design files?

From the JBlitzar/rd repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rd design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which JBlitzar chose for the repository.
