About the Hid relay PCB

Hid relay is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by JPEWdev, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45.7 × 30 mm, with 19 components from 14 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny261A-S, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the ULN2803A. By type, the board carries 5 resistors, 4 connectors, 4 capacitors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 1 crystal.

Open source design for HID controlled relay

This project provides an Open Source and Open Hardware implementation of the HID Relay board. These boards can be found for purchase from various vendors, and appear as a USB HID device. They can be controlled using either pyhid-usb-relay or usb-relay-hid.

The software aims to be 100% compatible with the board that can be purchased, allowing custom designed boards to be interchanged with the same host side control software (and possibly to even control things other than relays).

Hid relay: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hid relay use?

The Hid relay is built around the ATtiny261A-S, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Hid relay PCB?

The Hid relay measures 45.7 × 30 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hid relay?

19 components, from 14 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hid relay design files?

From the JPEWdev/hid-relay repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hid relay design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which JPEWdev chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Hid relay without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
