About the Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor PCB

Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor is an open source STM32 PCB design by JulianTasche, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 70 × 70 mm, with 94 components from 38 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G431CB LQFP48, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the LMR33630ADDA, BSC010N04LSI and DRV8353S. By type, the board carries 38 resistors, 20 capacitors, 10 ICs, 6 connectors, 2 diodes and 1 inductor.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

The goal is to have a functioning single esc for a bldc motor. I want to use that so i can build a 4in1 esc out of it for a drone.

A custom single-channel ESC (Electronic Speed Controller) for BLDC motors. I want to programm and test the esc before modifying it into a 4in1 esc i can use for flying a drone.

This repository contains the KiCad schematic and PCB layout for a single-channel ESC. The design is based on the DRV8353 gate driver and BSC010N04LSI MOSFETs, controlled by an STM32G431 microcontroller. It includes a buck converter for onboard power regulation, MOSFET-based battery backflow protection, and BEMF sensing for sensorless motor control.

Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor: common questions

What microcontroller does the Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor use?

The Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor is built around the STM32G431CB LQFP48, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor PCB?

The Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor measures 70 × 70 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor?

94 components, from 38 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor design files?

From the JulianTasche/Single-Esc-for-BLDC-Motor repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with JulianTasche. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Single-Esc for-BLDC-Motor without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
