I wasn't sure what to call this version, but decided on 'openkey kabuki CR'. CR standing for cost reduced. While the lower cost is not why I made this version, the BOM does go from ~$5 down to ~$0.60.

Openkey kabuki cr: common questions

What microcontroller does the Openkey kabuki cr use?

The Openkey kabuki cr is built around the ATtinyxx4, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Openkey kabuki cr PCB?

The Openkey kabuki cr measures 18.3 × 51.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Openkey kabuki cr?

8 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Openkey kabuki cr design files?

From the jwestfall69/openkey-kabuki-cr repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Openkey kabuki cr design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Unlicense license, which jwestfall69 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Openkey kabuki cr without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
