About the Audio teensy PCB

Audio teensy is an open source NXP PCB design by Karpova-Lab, published on GitHub under the BSD-3-Clause license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 44.1 × 43.5 mm, with 20 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AP7313, from the NXP family. Other key parts include the SGTL5000. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 5 connectors, 3 ICs, 3 resistors and 1 inductor.

It belongs with the audio designs in this gallery.

From the project

pyControl compatible audio player

This device connects with a pyControl breakout to play audio tones. A Teensy 3.2 generates an i2s audio signal which is later decompressed and amplified by the SGTL5000 codec IC. A left and right amplified signal is output to two separate mono headphone jacks. The design of this pcb is based on the Teensy Audio Adaptor Board.

Audio teensy: common questions

What microcontroller does the Audio teensy use?

The Audio teensy is built around the AP7313, from the NXP family.

How big is the Audio teensy PCB?

The Audio teensy measures 44.1 × 43.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Audio teensy?

20 components, from 15 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Audio teensy design files?

From the Karpova-Lab/audio_teensy repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Audio teensy design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-3-Clause license, which Karpova-Lab chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Audio teensy without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
