About the Rpi fanctl PCB

Rpi fanctl is an open source Raspberry Pi PCB design by kyrbis, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 51 × 64 mm, with 29 components from 12 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Raspberry_Pi_4, from the Raspberry Pi family. Other key parts include the SN74HCT125DR. By type, the board carries 12 resistors, 7 diodes, 4 capacitors, 2 ICs and 2 connectors.

raspberry pi fan control

This is a replacement pcb for the ElectroCookie Raspberry Pi 4 Case, Aluminum Mini Tower Case (or probably this one) to be used with PWM controlled 5V fans like noctua NF-A4x10 5V PWM, 4-Pin.

You might also need a 3D printed fan adapter.

Rpi fanctl: common questions

What microcontroller does the Rpi fanctl use?

The Rpi fanctl is built around the Raspberry_Pi_4, from the Raspberry Pi family.

How big is the Rpi fanctl PCB?

The Rpi fanctl measures 51 × 64 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.600198 mm thick.

How many components are on the Rpi fanctl?

29 components, from 12 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Rpi fanctl design files?

From the kyrbis/rpi-fanctl repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Rpi fanctl design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with kyrbis. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Rpi fanctl without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug Raspberry Pi firmware against it before you order a PCB.
