Its main chip is the ATmega328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the Driver, AO3400, I2C Bus, Color1 and Color2. By type, the board carries 12 connectors, 12 resistors, 11 capacitors, 7 ICs, 4 diodes and 1 crystal.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Designed and built a fully automated table-tennis ball sorting machine. This project highlights the use of custom mechanical and 3D-printed parts as well as a custom controller circuit board powered by an Atmega328-PU chip. This controller functions as the brain of the rig, allowing sensors and actuators to communicate with each other.

Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine: common questions

What microcontroller does the Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine use?

The Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine is built around the ATmega328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine PCB?

The Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine measures 113.4 × 110.6 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine?

49 components, from 30 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine design files?

From the linjunway/Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with linjunway. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Embedded-Systems-Sorting-Machine without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
