About the Usb stick PCB

Usb stick is an open source STM32 PCB design by lkesteloot, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 67.8 × 18.3 mm, with 38 components from 22 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F415RG, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the Z80CPU-SMD and LD29080DT33R. By type, the board carries 16 capacitors, 10 resistors, 4 connectors, 3 ICs, 2 switches and 1 crystal.

From the project

Website documenting a hardware project from the 1990s.

This is the third model of the Alice machine. It runs a silicon Z80 with two co-processors: an ARM for keyboard, disk, and serial port, and a Propeller for video.

The 80MHz Propeller has 48K of internal RAM, drives VGA and the 5-pin Aux connector (intended for audio but wired generically to 3 Propeller pins) and thus provides opportunities for video and other experimentation.

Usb stick: common questions

What microcontroller does the Usb stick use?

The Usb stick is built around the STM32F415RG, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Usb stick PCB?

The Usb stick measures 67.8 × 18.3 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Usb stick?

38 components, from 22 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Usb stick design files?

From the lkesteloot/alice repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Usb stick design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which lkesteloot chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Usb stick without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
