About the Monitor boost PCB

Monitor boost is an open source PCB design by MadsRudolph, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 147 × 99 mm, with 47 components from 34 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SG3524. By type, the board carries 18 resistors, 17 capacitors, 4 diodes, 3 transistors, 2 connectors and 1 IC.

From the project

The C27JG5x runs from a 19 V / 2.53 A (48 W) adapter. On a 12 V supply it browns out and shows artifacts. This board boosts a mains-powered 12 V supply to a regulated 19 V. The 230 V side stays inside a certified 12 V supply. Everything built here runs at 25 V or less.

Almost every part comes from the DTU component shop. Only the inductor wire, a fuse, the barrel-plug lead and the 12 V supply come from elsewhere. The board is single-sided and through-hole, isolation-milled on the CNC with a 0.8 mm end mill.

Monitor boost: common questions

How big is the Monitor boost PCB?

The Monitor boost measures 147 × 99 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Monitor boost?

47 components, from 34 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Monitor boost design files?

From the MadsRudolph/personal-projects repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Monitor boost design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with MadsRudolph. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
