About the IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge PCB

IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by makhowastaken, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 23.4 × 13.7 mm, with 21 components from 8 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny48-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 10 inductors, 3 capacitors, 3 resistors, 1 IC and 1 connector.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

Modified version of https://github.com/insidegadgets/LiPo-Battery-Gauge

I made this because I accidentally ordered the wrong ATTINYs and it was cheaper to make new custom PCBs than to order the correct MCUs. I also tweaked the LED board that Alex uploaded to comply with OSHpark's minimum size requirements.

I've uploaded the tweaked EAGLE BRD file and uploaded the exported gerbers if you want to use a different manufacturer. This PCB fits nicely in a GBA right below the LCD. See my youtube video for more info on the install and usage.

IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge: common questions

What microcontroller does the IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge use?

The IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge is built around the ATtiny48-AU, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge PCB?

The IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge measures 23.4 × 13.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge?

21 components, from 8 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge design files?

From the makhowastaken/iG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which makhowastaken chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the IG-LiPo-Battery-Gauge without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
