About the MP3 PCB

MP3 is an open source STM32 PCB design by Manish-Datrik, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 81.8 × 52.4 mm, with 40 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32WB55CEUx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2SC6 and MIC5365-3.3YD5. By type, the board carries 19 capacitors, 7 resistors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors, 3 inductors and 2 crystals.

From the project

This project is a portable MP3 Travel Companion designed using KiCAD. The idea behind this project is to create a small hardware device that makes travelling more enjoyable and comfortable.

This project is a portable MP3 Travel Companion designed using KiCAD. The idea behind this project is to create a small hardware device that makes travelling more enjoyable and comfortable.

During long journeys, trekking, camping, road trips, or train travel, people often like to listen to music without depending on their mobile phones. This device is designed to play music from a memory card while using very little power, making it a simple travel companion.

MP3: common questions

What microcontroller does the MP3 use?

The MP3 is built around the STM32WB55CEUx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the MP3 PCB?

The MP3 measures 81.8 × 52.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the MP3?

40 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the MP3 design files?

From the Manish-Datrik/MP3 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the MP3 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Manish-Datrik. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the MP3 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
