About the Cartridge board

Cartridge board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by meadiode, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 96.5 × 52.6 mm, with 4 components from 4 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny10, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 1 IC, 1 connector and 1 capacitor.

Epic Minimalist Entertainment System - DIY handheld handheld game console

EMES - is a very minimalistic DIY handheld game console.

- Screen: 15x10 pixels, LED - Input: four button keyboard - Sound: Magnetic buzzer - Physical dimensions(approx): 40x32x14mm - Removeable 8-pin cartridges

The console doesn't have an onboard CPU/MCU, instead an MCU is placed on every removable cartridge.

Each cartridge features an ATTiny10 MCU with the following specs:

Cartridge board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Cartridge board use?

The Cartridge board is built around the ATtiny10, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Cartridge board?

The Cartridge board measures 96.5 × 52.6 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Cartridge board?

4 components, from 4 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Cartridge board design files?

From the meadiode/EMES repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Cartridge board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which meadiode chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Cartridge board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
