About the Yast hw PCB

Yast hw is an open source PCB design by mimok, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 46 × 15.2 mm, with 26 components from 16 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the SE050C1HQ1/Z01SCZ, LPC55S28JBD64 and TLV75533PDRV. By type, the board carries 13 capacitors, 5 resistors, 3 ICs, 2 inductors, 1 connector and 1 switch.

Hardware source files of the YAST security token from OTS Security

From my point of view this is a real problem. I agree some tokens based on secure elements are not exempt from vulnerabilities like the Titan security key from Google. In fact, this token is based on a pretty old secure element A7005 from NXP and therefore things which were secure almost ten years ago are no more secure now. However if a old secure element is now vulnerable (but more than 4 months of work were needed to discover and exploit the vulnerability), old non secure chips are far more vulnerable. For example, it is possible to extract the firmware from an STM32F1 chip using a pure…

Yast hw: common questions

How big is the Yast hw PCB?

The Yast hw measures 46 × 15.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Yast hw?

26 components, from 16 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Yast hw design files?

From the mimok/yast-hw repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Yast hw design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-4.0 license, which mimok chose for the repository.
