About the Transparent-Keyboard PCB
Transparent-Keyboard is an open source NXP PCB design by Mithilessh2010, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 307.9 × 123.2 mm, with 165 components from 7 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the TEENSY2.0, from the NXP family. By type, the board carries 82 relays, 82 diodes and 1 IC.
It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.
From the project
This is a custom mechanical keyboard with a fully clear acrylic case and transparent keycaps. The goal of this project was to build a simple keyboard that shows all of the internal parts, lighting, and wiring.
This is a custom mechanical keyboard with a fully clear acrylic case and transparent keycaps. The goal of this project was to build a simple keyboard that shows all of the internal parts, lighting, and wiring.
This keyboard is designed to be easy to see through and easy to understand. Every major part is visible, including the PCB, LEDs, switches, and wiring. It uses QMK firmware and a Teensy microcontroller.

Transparent-Keyboard: common questions
What microcontroller does the Transparent-Keyboard use?
The Transparent-Keyboard is built around the TEENSY2.0, from the NXP family.
How big is the Transparent-Keyboard PCB?
The Transparent-Keyboard measures 307.9 × 123.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Transparent-Keyboard?
165 components, from 7 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Transparent-Keyboard design files?
From the Mithilessh2010/Transparent-Keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Transparent-Keyboard design in my own project?
The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Mithilessh2010. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
Can I test firmware for the Transparent-Keyboard without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
