About the CybICS PCB

CybICS is an open source STM32 PCB design by mniedermaier, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 160 × 100 mm, with 84 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32G070RBTx, from the STM32 family. By type, the board carries 52 resistors, 19 diodes, 4 capacitors, 3 connectors, 3 switches and 1 IC.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

cybics.3dshapes/ holds the models KiCad does not ship. Each one that was generated rather than downloaded keeps its build script next to it, so it can be regenerated instead of being an unmaintainable binary:

The Pi Zero model sits 11.0 mm above the board: 2.5 mm for the male header body on the carrier plus 8.5 mm for the socket on the Pi's underside, which is the standard Pi HAT spacing. The Pi is mounted component side up -- despite "FaceDown" in the footprint name -- so the model puts every part on the top face. Check doc/pics/cybics.png if in doubt; that photograph is what the model was…

CybICS: common questions

What microcontroller does the CybICS use?

The CybICS is built around the STM32G070RBTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the CybICS PCB?

The CybICS measures 160 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CybICS?

84 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CybICS design files?

From the mniedermaier/CybICS repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CybICS design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which mniedermaier chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the CybICS without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
