About the RackPilot PCB

RackPilot is an open source PCB design by MootSeeker, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 65 × 56 mm, with 23 components from 13 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the CAT24C256. By type, the board carries 8 resistors, 6 diodes, 3 connectors, 2 transistors, 2 relays and 1 IC.

From the project

Automatically manages the server throughout the day (GPIO boot, shutdown commands, Airflow)

RackPilot is a Raspberry Pi board designed to turn servers on and off in a controlled way. It connects the Raspberry Pi's 40-pin GPIO header to two server connectors and provides two relay-based control channels.

The goal is automated server management using GPIO startup pulses, shutdown commands, and scheduled workflows through Airflow. This repository currently contains the hardware design and manufacturing files; control software and Airflow DAGs are not yet included.

RackPilot: common questions

How big is the RackPilot PCB?

The RackPilot measures 65 × 56 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the RackPilot?

23 components, from 13 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the RackPilot design files?

From the MootSeeker/RackPilot repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the RackPilot design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which MootSeeker chose for the repository.
