About the Dual swing gate controller PCB

Dual swing gate controller is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by motivemachine, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 99.7 × 99.1 mm, with 50 components from 29 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ArduinoProMini_a, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3, LoRa_Ra-02 and INA219BIDCNR. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 8 diodes, 8 capacitors, 6 connectors, 5 ICs and 4 transistors.

It belongs with the rf & radio, robotics & motion and power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

A relay-driven dual DC motor controller for a double-swing gate opener. Uses Arduino and LoRa. This repo is a mirror for:

Having built a custom driveway gate and hinge setup I found myself shocked at what a quality dual-swing gate opener costs these days. More importantly, they have rather a lack of customization available in how you control or communicate with them, so I've set out to build my own with a pair of 12v linear actuators and a Semtech SX1287 LORA radio module. This is a work in progress.

Dual swing gate controller: common questions

What microcontroller does the Dual swing gate controller use?

The Dual swing gate controller is built around the ArduinoProMini_a, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Dual swing gate controller PCB?

The Dual swing gate controller measures 99.7 × 99.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Dual swing gate controller?

50 components, from 29 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Dual swing gate controller design files?

From the motivemachine/dual_swing_gate_controller repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Dual swing gate controller design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which motivemachine chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Dual swing gate controller without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
