About the R/C Compensation Tool PCB

R/C Compensation Tool is an open source PCB design by mschwingen, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 37 × 75 mm, with 31 components from 28 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 20 capacitors, 4 switches and 4 test points.

Similar to Analog Devices LB-013, this is a simple R-C-network that is useful when optimizing the loop compensation of switching regulators. I made this to use parts I had around (especially the 5-pin DIP switches), primarily because a nice PCB with silkscreen is a lot prettier than a bit of perfboard.

The PCB with all switches open has ca. 12pF of capacitance.

R/C Compensation Tool: common questions

How big is the R/C Compensation Tool PCB?

The R/C Compensation Tool measures 37 × 75 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the R/C Compensation Tool?

31 components, from 28 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the R/C Compensation Tool design files?

From the mschwingen/hardware repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the R/C Compensation Tool design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with mschwingen. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
