About the CoreTrace-CT-F401RE PCB

CoreTrace-CT-F401RE is an open source STM32 PCB design by navaneeth-linh, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 100 × 100 mm, with 33 components from 19 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F401RE, from the STM32 family. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 10 resistors, 1 connector, 1 diode and 1 inductor.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

Reason: The SPDT switch footprint was modified to fix a silkscreen overlap with the board edge cut. The silkscreen of the original footprint extended beyond the PCB boundary causing a DRC violation. The footprint silkscreen was moved inward resulting in a minor library mismatch warning.

Impact: None — footprint is electrically correct and physically accurate. This is a cosmetic library mismatch only.

CoreTrace-CT-F401RE: common questions

What microcontroller does the CoreTrace-CT-F401RE use?

The CoreTrace-CT-F401RE is built around the STM32F401RE, from the STM32 family.

How big is the CoreTrace-CT-F401RE PCB?

The CoreTrace-CT-F401RE measures 100 × 100 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CoreTrace-CT-F401RE?

33 components, from 19 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CoreTrace-CT-F401RE design files?

From the navaneeth-linh/CoreTrace-CT-F401RE repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CoreTrace-CT-F401RE design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with navaneeth-linh. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the CoreTrace-CT-F401RE without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
