About the Dram tester PCB

Dram tester is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by necroware, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 56.5 × 43.2 mm, with 8 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the TMM41256AP. By type, the board carries 2 diodes, 2 resistors, 1 IC, 1 module, 1 jumper and 1 capacitor.

From the project

4164 / 41256 DRAM Tester

This is a simple DRAM tester for 4164 and 41256 DRAM chips. It writes and reads various patterns to verify the integrity of the memory chips. During the the test red an green LEDs blink alternatively to indicate that the test is running. If an error was detected, the the red LED will stay on permanently. If the chip passed the test, the green LED will stay on. With JP1 closed, the tester will expect a 4164 chip, with JP1 open, it will expect a 41256 chip.

Dram tester: common questions

What microcontroller does the Dram tester use?

The Dram tester is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Dram tester PCB?

The Dram tester measures 56.5 × 43.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Dram tester?

8 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Dram tester design files?

From the necroware/dram-tester repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Dram tester design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which necroware chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Dram tester without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
