About the Freezer display PCB

Freezer display is an open source PCB design by NemoAndrea, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 41.6 × 60.3 mm, with 3 components from 3 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the ProS3. By type, the board carries 1 IC, 1 connector and 1 switch.

It belongs with the displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Open hardware freezer display primarily intended for freezers used in research labs for biosample storage.

The PCB for the project is a simple shim PCB, i.e. it merely serves to connect the two boards, functioning as a low-profile connector. Since we are severely constrained in terms of space, and we don't have control over the connectors on the boards that we are connecting, this seems like the best solution.

To assemble the PCB stack, you will need to remove some headers from the Waveshare board:

Freezer display: common questions

How big is the Freezer display PCB?

The Freezer display measures 41.6 × 60.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Freezer display?

3 components, from 3 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Freezer display design files?

From the NemoAndrea/freezer-display repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Freezer display design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which NemoAndrea chose for the repository.
