About the Hackpad Macropad PCB

Hackpad Macropad is an open source PCB design by Ninjacat10, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 76 × 41.5 mm, with 8 components from 3 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MOUDLE-SEEEDUINO-XIAO. By type, the board carries 7 switches and 1 IC.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

A 6-key macropad with a rotary encoder, built for the Hack Club Hackpad program.

A 6-key macropad with a rotary encoder, built for the Hack Club Hackpad program.

Single-piece, fully 3D printed case (CAD/hackpadassembly.step`).

Runs KMK on the Seeeduino XIAO. Keys are direct-wired to GPIO pins (no diode matrix). See Firmware/main.py for the pin mapping (extracted from the schematic) and keymap.

1. Order the PCB using production/gerbers.zip 2. 3D print / laser cut the case from CAD/ 3. Flash Firmware/main.py to the XIAO via KMK/CircuitPython 4. Assemble and solder switches per the BOM above

Hackpad Macropad: common questions

How big is the Hackpad Macropad PCB?

The Hackpad Macropad measures 76 × 41.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hackpad Macropad?

8 components, from 3 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hackpad Macropad design files?

From the Ninjacat10/Hackpad_Macropad repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hackpad Macropad design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Ninjacat10. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
