From the project
Electronic repo for image sensor module for CISYNTH
The CYSINTH is an innovative tangible interface for creating music and visuals. Utilizing our CIS instrument, the CISYNTH generates a UDP stream containing thousands of values captured by both the contact image sensor and the inertial measurement unit, transmitted at frequencies of up to 1kHz. This stream can be used to generate music or display image streams in Max/MSP, Pure Data, and our Viewer.

CIS: common questions
What microcontroller does the CIS use?
The CIS is built around the U_0101, from the STM32 family.
How big is the CIS PCB?
The CIS measures 194 × 25 mm, has 6 copper layers and is 1 mm thick.
How many components are on the CIS?
176 components, from 58 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the CIS design files?
From the Ondulab/Sp3ctra_CIS_electronics repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the CIS design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-S-2.0 license, which Ondulab chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the CIS without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
