About the Magnetic Coupler V1.1 PCB

Magnetic Coupler V1.1 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by Ossairy, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 133 × 106.8 mm, with 25 components from 21 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Mega2560_Shield, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 20 connectors and 3 resistors.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

This Project was designed to use the magnetic coupling as a part of motor testing setup, however we then used it as a magnetic coupler design set varying the num. of magnet and air gap

the project objective is to design and manufacture Motor testing setup.

August 2021 ; during my internship period in MRS research Lab -Multi Robot Systems- in german university in cairo.

Project Description : First the system is designed and modeled on Solidworks and then the designed parts is manufactured using Laser cutting machine , conventional Lathe , conventional milling machine ,and CNC bending machine. It was desired to measure the torque of a motor that wanted to be tested however applying so much force on the motor shaft may hurt the motor ,so I choosed the magnetic coupler to be…

Magnetic Coupler V1.1: common questions

What microcontroller does the Magnetic Coupler V1.1 use?

The Magnetic Coupler V1.1 is built around the Arduino_Mega2560_Shield, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Magnetic Coupler V1.1 PCB?

The Magnetic Coupler V1.1 measures 133 × 106.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Magnetic Coupler V1.1?

25 components, from 21 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Magnetic Coupler V1.1 design files?

From the Ossairy/Magnetic_Coupler_V1.1 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Magnetic Coupler V1.1 design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with Ossairy. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Magnetic Coupler V1.1 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
