About the Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface PCB

Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface is an open source STM32 PCB design by PedPEx, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 235 × 119.4 mm, with 93 components from 33 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32L151C8T6, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AP22652AW6-7, LD1117S33CTR and C128392. By type, the board carries 39 resistors, 27 capacitors, 11 ICs, 6 connectors, 4 diodes and 2 switches.

Siemens Sinumerik840C Maschinensteuertafel Adaptor for LinuxCNC

As terminal blocks Weidmüller 1824460000 - LSF-SMT 3.50/06/90 3.5SN BK TU were used - because i had them at hand. But any headers or screw terminals with a 3.5 mm pitch can be used here.

An example of a whole machine fitted with this Interface can be found in my other project Maho400E-LinuxCNC

Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface: common questions

What microcontroller does the Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface use?

The Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface is built around the STM32L151C8T6, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface PCB?

The Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface measures 235 × 119.4 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface?

93 components, from 33 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface design files?

From the PedPEx/Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which PedPEx chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Siemens-LinuxCNC-Interface without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
