About the Luner-ICE PCB

Luner-ICE is an open source PCB design by qaismasri, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 63.8 × 41.1 mm, with 30 components from 14 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the MCP6022 and LM393. By type, the board carries 17 resistors, 6 capacitors, 3 ICs, 3 connectors and 1 diode.

From the project

Research, circuit design, test firmware and PCB files for all four sensing subsystems on the Lunar-ICE rover.

Research, circuit design, test firmware and PCB files for all four sensing subsystems on the Lunar-ICE rover.

Each subsystem detects one property of a rock and reduces it to a signal the Metro M0 can read. The full write-up for each — design reasoning, calculations, simulations and measurements — is in docs/; this folder holds the working files.

Each folder containing a platformio.ini is a standalone PlatformIO project:

The KiCad project lives in the qaismasri/Luner-ICE repository on GitHub; these links point at the commit this page was built from.

Luner-ICE: common questions

How big is the Luner-ICE PCB?

The Luner-ICE measures 63.8 × 41.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Luner-ICE?

30 components, from 14 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Luner-ICE design files?

From the qaismasri/Luner-ICE repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Luner-ICE design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with qaismasri. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.
