About the Pennyesc PCB
Pennyesc is an open source STM32 PCB design by qwertpas, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 15.9 × 14 mm, with 17 components from 12 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the STM32L011F4UX, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the MCT8316Z0R and TMAG5273A1QDBVR. By type, the board carries 7 capacitors, 7 resistors and 3 ICs.
It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

Tiny and cheap brushless motor controller
Ended up being about $6/board for raw components, but after setup fees ($16), shipping ($39), and customs ($21) the total was $111 for 5 boards. It should be a lot better when ordering in larger quantities.

Pennyesc: common questions
What microcontroller does the Pennyesc use?
The Pennyesc is built around the STM32L011F4UX, from the STM32 family.
How big is the Pennyesc PCB?
The Pennyesc measures 15.9 × 14 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1 mm thick.
How many components are on the Pennyesc?
17 components, from 12 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Pennyesc design files?
From the qwertpas/pennyesc repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Pennyesc design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which qwertpas chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Pennyesc without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
