About the WindLogger PCB

WindLogger is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by re-innovation, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 45.1 × 56.5 mm, with 16 components from 13 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ARDUINO_SHIELD, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 6 resistors, 4 connectors, 3 capacitors and 2 switches.

It belongs with the sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

An Arduino based low cost wind speed datalogger

So far there have been two different versions of this unit: Version 1 was released in 2014. This was basic add on shield for the 'DataDuino' (an Arduino based SD card datalogger from www.re-innovation.co.uk) Version 2 was released on 2016. This was a surface mount design with additional functions such as solar PV charging.

WindLogger: common questions

What microcontroller does the WindLogger use?

The WindLogger is built around the ARDUINO_SHIELD, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the WindLogger PCB?

The WindLogger measures 45.1 × 56.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the WindLogger?

16 components, from 13 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the WindLogger design files?

From the re-innovation/WindLogger repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the WindLogger design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with re-innovation. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the WindLogger without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
