About the Esc v6 PCB

Esc v6 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by savob, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license. It is a 4-layer board measuring 22.1 × 12 mm, with 16 components from 11 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATtiny1617-M, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 5 capacitors, 4 jumpers, 4 resistors, 1 IC, 1 connector and 1 diode.

My custom ESC project

Here are the files related to the hardware design. They are all from KiCad 7.0.10 at the oldest.

- escvX are different versions of the ESC - drivericadapter is a board I designed to act as an adapter so I could seat an IRS2334S chip on the footprint for a FAN7x88 chip - escdriver is a board just meant to hold the power stage of the ESC so one can connect it to different control circuits

Esc v6: common questions

What microcontroller does the Esc v6 use?

The Esc v6 is built around the ATtiny1617-M, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Esc v6 PCB?

The Esc v6 measures 22.1 × 12 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 4.69 mm thick.

How many components are on the Esc v6?

16 components, from 11 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Esc v6 design files?

From the savob/esc repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Esc v6 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CERN-OHL-W-2.0 license, which savob chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Esc v6 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
