About the Battery PCB

Battery is an open source STM32 PCB design by sean618, published on GitHub under the MIT license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 56 × 25 mm, with 64 components from 40 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the C529330, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the USBLC6-2P6, C3235557, C81233, C2681921 and C376005. By type, the board carries 19 resistors, 14 capacitors, 8 ICs, 8 connectors, 3 transistors and 1 switch.

It belongs with the power & battery and sensors designs in this gallery.

From the project

Modular STM32 electronic-tile system: hardware, firmware, the MicroBus + Field Protocol stack, and a Python daemon.

MakerTiles is a system of modular, snap-together electronic tiles. Each tile is a small STM32-based board with a single job — a strip of LEDs, a joystick, a motor, a distance sensor, a screen, a speaker, and so on. Tiles connect on a shared bus, a USB tile bridges the bus to a PC, and a Python daemon on the PC discovers every connected tile and lets you read its inputs and drive its outputs.

Battery: common questions

What microcontroller does the Battery use?

The Battery is built around the C529330, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Battery PCB?

The Battery measures 56 × 25 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Battery?

64 components, from 40 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Battery design files?

From the sean618/MakerTiles repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Battery design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which sean618 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Battery without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
