A system to present odour to flies

The image below is taken from https://academic.oup.com/chemse/article/42/2/141/2709444

- developed as part of the work of the Nowotny lab and it is being setup initially for experiments with flies. - The reason we are publicly documenting things is that since the original papers describing the stimulator came out, some enabling technology has become widely available, which makes setting this up simpler and less expensive. This write up is our attempt to document this. - Some documentation of the orignal stimulator is already publicly available on github already, unfortunately some of the…

Odour stimulator: common questions

How big is the Odour stimulator PCB?

The Odour stimulator measures 63 × 110.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Odour stimulator?

50 components, from 25 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Odour stimulator design files?

From the Sussex-Neuroscience/odour-stimulator repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Odour stimulator design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which Sussex-Neuroscience chose for the repository.
