About the Solarpunk microgrid ag router PCB

Solarpunk microgrid ag router is an open source NXP PCB design by t4rxnn-devel, published on GitHub under the Apache-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 120 × 80 mm, with 4 components from 2 distinct parts.

By type, the board carries 3 ICs and 1 transistor.

It belongs with the power & battery designs in this gallery.

From the project

Because saving the world from grid collapse takes more than hoping for the best, it demands real MPPT, honest math, and code that doesn't melt

Traditional MPPT algorithms oscillate around the maximum power point or get trapped in local maxima under partial shading. This engine handles it by:

Dynamic Step Sizing: Scaling perturbation magnitude proportionally to the $\frac{dP}{dV}$ derivative slope. When nearing the true peak ($\frac{dP}{dV} \to 0$), the step sizes shrink automatically to stop jittering. Global Sweep Scans: Periodically dropping the voltage setpoint to sweep the entire I-V curve, ensuring you lock onto the absolute global maximum instead of a lazy local hump.

Solarpunk microgrid ag router: common questions

How big is the Solarpunk microgrid ag router PCB?

The Solarpunk microgrid ag router measures 120 × 80 mm and has 2 copper layers.

How many components are on the Solarpunk microgrid ag router?

4 components, from 2 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Solarpunk microgrid ag router design files?

From the t4rxnn-devel/solarpunk-microgrid-ag-router repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Solarpunk microgrid ag router design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its Apache-2.0 license, which t4rxnn-devel chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Solarpunk microgrid ag router without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug NXP firmware against it before you order a PCB.
