About the Shortywithdisplay PCB

Shortywithdisplay is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by theflyingsquirrel88, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 86 × 96 mm, with 25 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MCP3421A0T-ECH and AD8628WARTZ-RL. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 3 switches, 3 capacitors, 2 ICs, 2 connectors and 1 module.

PCB Design for the ShortywithDisplay Project

This Project is based on the design from kripton2035 from eevblog.com https://www.eevblog.com/forum/testgear/finding-short-on-motherboards-with-a-shorty-(with-display)/

I was fixing my laptop and thinking there is a short somewhere which is hard to pin point. I then came across this project shorty with display and am very imppressed by it. I saw everyone was soldering component onto breadbroad but no PCB was ever designed for this. I then decided to take some time to design a PCB for this so that everyone will have a easier live down the road. This PCB is designed with KiCAD 9.0. I used…

Shortywithdisplay: common questions

What microcontroller does the Shortywithdisplay use?

The Shortywithdisplay is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Shortywithdisplay PCB?

The Shortywithdisplay measures 86 × 96 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Shortywithdisplay?

25 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Shortywithdisplay design files?

From the theflyingsquirrel88/shortywithdisplay repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Shortywithdisplay design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which theflyingsquirrel88 chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Shortywithdisplay without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
