About the Binaeruhr PCB

Binaeruhr is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by timocramer, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 38 × 36.1 mm, with 26 components from 7 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATmega48PA-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 12 resistors, 10 diodes, 1 IC, 1 crystal, 1 battery holder and 1 capacitor.

It belongs with the wearables designs in this gallery.

From the project

binary pocket watch

This is a binary pocket watch, made with an atmega48pa. The enclosure is from a cheap pocket watch, mass produced in China and sold via Ebay or Aliexpress.

Open the watch. The upper four LEDs show the hours in binary, the lower six ones show the minutes. Add the numbers under/over the glowing LEDs to get the current time. Closing the watch will turn the LEDs off again.

Binaeruhr: common questions

What microcontroller does the Binaeruhr use?

The Binaeruhr is built around the ATmega48PA-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Binaeruhr PCB?

The Binaeruhr measures 38 × 36.1 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Binaeruhr?

26 components, from 7 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Binaeruhr design files?

From the timocramer/binaeruhr repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Binaeruhr design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with timocramer. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Binaeruhr without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
