About the HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO PCB

HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by timvideos, published on GitHub under the CC-BY-SA-4.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 108 × 111.3 mm, with 41 components from 20 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the AURD_COMM_SHIELD_ZERO_NEW, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the TOFE-8X, PIC18F14K50 and 7805_NW. By type, the board carries 10 resistors, 7 diodes, 7 capacitors, 6 connectors, 4 ICs and 4 switches.

From the project

A Low Speed I/O board for use with TOFE-8x compatible boards like the Numato Opsis.

The Numato Opsis, the first open hardware for the HDMI2USB firmware, can now be ordered from Numato Labs

While the Numato Opsis board has a massive amount of high speed I/O interfaces, it doesn't include many features for interfacing with more pedestrian speed devices such as buttons or LEDs. To help solve this problem “Low speed I/O” TOFE expansion board was created.

HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO: common questions

What microcontroller does the HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO use?

The HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO is built around the AURD_COMM_SHIELD_ZERO_NEW, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO PCB?

The HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO measures 108 × 111.3 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO?

41 components, from 20 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO design files?

From the timvideos/HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its CC-BY-SA-4.0 license, which timvideos chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the HDMI2USB-TOFE-LowSpeedIO without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
