About the Calctext mainboard PCB

Calctext mainboard is an open source PCB design by tomekjersey0, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 65 × 97.8 mm, with 20 components from 12 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the Wio-E5-LE, TPS61299DRLR and PCAL9535APW,118. By type, the board carries 8 capacitors, 6 resistors, 3 ICs, 2 inductors and 1 connector.

It belongs with the rf & radio, iot & wireless and displays & leds designs in this gallery.

From the project

Custom embedded calculator hardware design (KiCad) with integrated LoRa communication and low-power system architecture.

CalcText is a wireless messaging device enclosed inside a scientific calculator, powered by a single AAA battery. Two units can message each other directly over LoRa, not requiring Wi-Fi, mobile data, or any kind of external infrastructure. The idea came to me from wanting to message a friend who sat far away from me in my maths class without using my phone or shouting. Despite being a little odd, the idea stuck with me.
