About the Phase frequency detector PCB

Phase frequency detector is an open source PCB design by TU-Darmstadt-APQ, published on GitHub under the CERN-OHL-1.2 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 160 × 100 mm, with 86 components from 37 distinct parts.

Other key parts include the HMC439QS16GE, LT3045EMSE#PBF, LT3094EMSE#PBF, ADA4896-2ARMZ and HMC365S8GETR. By type, the board carries 39 capacitors, 26 resistors, 9 ICs, 6 connectors, 3 diodes and 2 jumpers.

From the project

Use the HMC439 phase-frequency detector to phase-lock a laser beat note to an external reference frequency between 10MHz and 1.3GHz.

Phase-Frequency Detector ===================== This repository contains the KiCad design files of a phase-frequency detector designed for application in optical phase-locked loops (OPLL). The detector compares a beat-note signal with a reference signal and creates an output signal proportional to the phase deviation of the beat-note from the reference. Optionally, the beat-note input can be equipped with a divider (default: 4) for a larger input-frequency range. The module also comprises a fast analog proportional-derivative controller for high-bandwidth feedback.
