About the Ocelot vA3 PCB

Ocelot vA3 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by turboedge, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 80 × 99.8 mm, with 206 components from 75 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the MPXH6115A6T1, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the IXDN602SIA, TS2940CP50, MPXH6400AC6U, MP6600GR-Z and CP2102N-A01-GQFN24. By type, the board carries 55 resistors, 49 capacitors, 22 jumpers, 22 LEDs, 19 diodes and 13 transistors.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

The reset button was added as the only reset connection made to the microcontroller to prevent unwanted resets from USB connected devices. There is a caveat to this arrangement though. While the first time a firmware is loaded it will go on without intervention, subsequent times will require the user to hold the reset button down then release the button when the program starts the upload process. If the upload does not start right away go back and try again.

Ocelot vA3: common questions

What microcontroller does the Ocelot vA3 use?

The Ocelot vA3 is built around the MPXH6115A6T1, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Ocelot vA3 PCB?

The Ocelot vA3 measures 80 × 99.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Ocelot vA3?

206 components, from 75 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Ocelot vA3 design files?

From the turboedge/SpeedyBoards repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Ocelot vA3 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which turboedge chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Ocelot vA3 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
