About the Attach hexa PCB
Attach hexa is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by uzsito, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 91.3 × 25.9 mm, with 18 components from 6 distinct parts.
Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. By type, the board carries 6 transistors, 6 resistors, 5 connectors and 1 module.
From the project
Configurable low-cost solution to produce fake cooling fan TACH signals for various computer systems.
With the code uploaded to Arduino, a complete Attach-Hexa is able to drive six computer fan headers (channels) with TACH signals. Users can easily adjust the required RPM simulation on each channel, using pre-defined commands on serial interface.
On most motherboard headers, TACH pin is pulled high (+10-12V) by an internal pullup resistor. As the connected fan rotates, it's own built-in electronics (hall-effect sensor, transistor) pulls the TACH line to GND twice in every revolution. This results in a square-wave with a certain period, which is proportional to the fan's rotation speed. So if…

Attach hexa: common questions
What microcontroller does the Attach hexa use?
The Attach hexa is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.
How big is the Attach hexa PCB?
The Attach hexa measures 91.3 × 25.9 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.
How many components are on the Attach hexa?
18 components, from 6 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the Attach hexa design files?
From the uzsito/attach-hexa repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the Attach hexa design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which uzsito chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the Attach hexa without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
