About the GISMo PCB

GISMo is an open source STM32 PCB design by wandrade, published on GitHub under the GPL-3.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 47.6 × 36.8 mm, with 38 components from 26 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F302K8Ux, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the DRV8876RGTR. By type, the board carries 14 capacitors, 9 resistors, 6 connectors, 3 diodes, 2 ICs and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the robotics & motion and dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

Greatly Inteligent Servo Motor (G.I.S.Mo) - Adapt a MG995 or similar servo to a propper smart servo with current sensing and cool control methods (cause the ones that are cheap are sh**, and the other ones too)

After a long search, I have failed to find a servo motor that does everything I need for my projects that is also cheap(ish) and fully programmable (say no to closed source stuff whenever you can).

Well, thus was born the idea of GISMo (Greatly Inteligent Servo Motor). This project aims to develop a board that can be used to replace the vanilla servo driver boards that comes with cheaper ones such as MG995 and MG996R, giving it more power and making it more usefull for distributed controll projects:

GISMo: common questions

What microcontroller does the GISMo use?

The GISMo is built around the STM32F302K8Ux, from the STM32 family.

How big is the GISMo PCB?

The GISMo measures 47.6 × 36.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the GISMo?

38 components, from 26 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the GISMo design files?

From the wandrade/GISMo repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the GISMo design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which wandrade chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the GISMo without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
