From the project
Keeps your tea at temperature by turning the circuit board itself into the heating element. Overengineered, like all good tea rituals.
Tea Cozy Hotplate =====================================
The Tea Cozy Hotplate is a USB-C powered, closed-loop temperature-controlled hotplate sized to sit under a single cup of tea. An STM32F103C8T6 ("Blue Pill" class MCU) reads a thermistor bonded to the underside of the heating coil, PWM drives two low-side NMOS switches to regulate power into a spiral PCB heater trace, and reports the current setpoint on a ten segment WS2812B ("Neopixel") LED bar that doubles as a 0 to 90 degrees C temperature dial. Two buttons let you nudge the setpoint up or down in 10 degree steps, and the whole board…

TeaCupHotPlate: common questions
What microcontroller does the TeaCupHotPlate use?
The TeaCupHotPlate is built around the MCU 72MHz STM32F103C8T6, from the STM32 family.
How big is the TeaCupHotPlate PCB?
The TeaCupHotPlate measures 93 × 57 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 0.99 mm thick.
How many components are on the TeaCupHotPlate?
104 components, from 42 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.
Where can I download the TeaCupHotPlate design files?
From the Will946/TeaCupHotPlate repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.
Can I use the TeaCupHotPlate design in my own project?
Yes, under the terms of its MIT license, which Will946 chose for the repository.
Can I test firmware for the TeaCupHotPlate without the hardware?
Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
