From the project

STM32-based digital metal detector with custom hardware and embedded DSP firmware.

Hubble is a fully functional digital metal detector prototype built from scratch to detect coins and jewelry using embedded signal processing techniques. It features a dual STM32F1 microcontroller architecture, designed with a forward-looking concept: separating the detecting coil unit and control unit with an infrared wireless link. The detector operates on multiple frequencies and implements functionality typical for professional metal detectors. This project was developed entirely by a single engineer, including hardware design, firmware, PCB layout, and mechanical assembly. Source code…

Hubble metal detector: common questions

What microcontroller does the Hubble metal detector use?

The Hubble metal detector is built around the STM32F103RB, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Hubble metal detector PCB?

The Hubble metal detector measures 80 × 74 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Hubble metal detector?

140 components, from 63 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Hubble metal detector design files?

From the zartarn15/hubble-metal-detector repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Hubble metal detector design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with zartarn15. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Hubble metal detector without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
