About the Simplemaker PCB

Simplemaker is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by acassis, published on GitHub under the GPL-2.0 license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 120.4 × 140.2 mm, with 68 components from 15 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the CNY17-2. By type, the board carries 25 resistors, 12 transistors, 12 diodes, 7 ICs, 5 connectors and 3 capacitors.

It belongs with the robotics & motion designs in this gallery.

From the project

This is an evolve from TheMarker2 CNC replacing the PIC microcontroller by an Atmega

It is based on http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:41594

This project started as an evolution from TheMarker2 CNC replacing the PIC microcontroller by an Atmega, but eventually I decided to move to this thingiverse design because it is more robust.

Simplemaker: common questions

What microcontroller does the Simplemaker use?

The Simplemaker is built around the ATMEGA328P-P, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Simplemaker PCB?

The Simplemaker measures 120.4 × 140.2 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Simplemaker?

68 components, from 15 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Simplemaker design files?

From the acassis/simplemaker repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Simplemaker design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-2.0 license, which acassis chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Simplemaker without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
