About the Keyboard2 PCB

Keyboard2 is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by agkaminski, published on GitHub under the BSD-3-Clause license. It is a 2-layer board measuring 313.1 × 103.5 mm, with 162 components from 23 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ATMEGA16U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the 74HC138. By type, the board carries 68 switches, 68 diodes, 10 resistors, 7 capacitors, 5 connectors and 3 ICs.

It belongs with the keyboards designs in this gallery.

From the project

DIY cherry 69% mechanical keyboard - USB or raw matrix

This repository contains designs of mechanical keyboards. Purpose of these keyboards are custom DIY computers that are of all-in-keyboard design.

This is a DIY 69% (nice) mechanical keyboard. Mostly to be used for DIY computers, but there's a provision for USB/PS2 connection too.

Keyboard has been tested in the FellaPC project and proven 100% functional. USB/PS2 connection has not been tested yet.

Keyboard2: common questions

What microcontroller does the Keyboard2 use?

The Keyboard2 is built around the ATMEGA16U4-A, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Keyboard2 PCB?

The Keyboard2 measures 313.1 × 103.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Keyboard2?

162 components, from 23 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Keyboard2 design files?

From the agkaminski/keyboard2 repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Keyboard2 design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its BSD-3-Clause license, which agkaminski chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Keyboard2 without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
