About the CentralCommand PCB

CentralCommand is an open source STM32 PCB design by AlanFord, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 61.2 × 54.5 mm, with 55 components from 34 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F030C8, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the FT232RQ and MCP1700T-3302E/TT. By type, the board carries 15 capacitors, 15 resistors, 12 connectors, 6 diodes, 3 ICs and 2 inductors.

It belongs with the usb & debug tools designs in this gallery.

From the project

Central Command pcb for the Contextual Electronics class

The objective of this portion of the class was to design and build a development board based on the STM32F030 MCU. USB functionality is provided via an FTDI FT232RQ device attached to USART2. An 8Mhz external clock is provided by a crystal. External headers are provided for USART1, I2C2, SPI1, ADC, and a programming connection. I2C1 functionality is provided via two JST SH connectors. One user LED is provided. An on-board reset button will reset the mcu.

CentralCommand: common questions

What microcontroller does the CentralCommand use?

The CentralCommand is built around the STM32F030C8, from the STM32 family.

How big is the CentralCommand PCB?

The CentralCommand measures 61.2 × 54.5 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the CentralCommand?

55 components, from 34 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the CentralCommand design files?

From the AlanFord/CentralCommand repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the CentralCommand design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with AlanFord. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the CentralCommand without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
