About the Stm32f4-dev board

Stm32f4-dev board is an open source STM32 PCB design by alcad1us, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 47.6 × 37.8 mm, with 34 components from 17 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the STM32F407VGTx, from the STM32 family. Other key parts include the AMS1117-3.3. By type, the board carries 18 capacitors, 6 resistors, 4 connectors, 2 ICs, 1 crystal and 1 switch.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

From the project

First STM32F4-based PCB design project focused on learning fundamentals

This repository contains my first STM32-based PCB design.

The board is designed as a simple development board around an STM32F4 series microcontroller. It includes: - Power supply and regulation - USB interface - SWD programming and debugging interface - Basic clock and decoupling circuitry

This project was mainly focused on learning the hardware design workflow: - Drawing the schematic - Power and bypass (decoupling) capacitor placement - USB D+/D− differential pair routing - Pull-up resistor usage - Debug interface connections - PCB placement and routing

Stm32f4-dev board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Stm32f4-dev board use?

The Stm32f4-dev board is built around the STM32F407VGTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Stm32f4-dev board?

The Stm32f4-dev board measures 47.6 × 37.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Stm32f4-dev board?

34 components, from 17 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Stm32f4-dev board design files?

From the alcad1us/stm32f4-dev-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Stm32f4-dev board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with alcad1us. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Stm32f4-dev board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
