- Sensor: 850 nm IR LED, BPW34 photodiode at 90° for scattered light, and a second BPW34 to monitor the LED. An MCP6002 dual amplifier and ADS1115 read the two channels; an Arduino Nano compatible board controls the LED. - Readout: the Android phone supplies power through USB-C, displays the result, and uploads measurements to the citizen-science website. Turbimeter Citizen science: common questions

What microcontroller does the Turbimeter Citizen science use?

The Turbimeter Citizen science is built around the Arduino_Nano_v2.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Turbimeter Citizen science PCB?

The Turbimeter Citizen science measures 54.7 × 39.7 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Turbimeter Citizen science?

11 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Turbimeter Citizen science design files?

From the alexmanuel27/Turbimeter_Citizen_science repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Turbimeter Citizen science design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with alexmanuel27. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Turbimeter Citizen science without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
