Mechanical keyboard with various configurations and "in-PCB" WS2812 RGB LEDs

In this repository you will find my PCBs for a mechanical keyboard based around cherry switches and WS2812 single-wire serial RGB LEDs. The keyboard is broken into two parts, the main keyboard PCB that houses the LEDS, power supply and switches, and a daughterboard that connects via ribbon cable where the controlling microcontroller is mounter.

The keyboard PCB in the latest generation has been been built such that the bottom row can be arranged in many different ways, allowing for unique configuration. On the to-do list is to add this sort of customizability to more of the keyboard, eg.…

Stm32f4 control board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Stm32f4 control board use?

The Stm32f4 control board is built around the STM32F407VGTx, from the STM32 family.

How big is the Stm32f4 control board?

The Stm32f4 control board measures 49.6 × 31.8 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the Stm32f4 control board?

52 components, from 25 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Stm32f4 control board design files?

From the alxhoff/RGB-Mechanical-Keyboard repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Stm32f4 control board design in my own project?

Yes, under the terms of its GPL-3.0 license, which alxhoff chose for the repository.

Can I test firmware for the Stm32f4 control board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug STM32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
