About the Kicad spo2-board

Kicad spo2-board is an open source AVR/Arduino PCB design by andreimatei03, published on GitHub. It is a 4-layer board measuring 80 × 50 mm, with 10 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family. Other key parts include the MAX30102 and Untitled. By type, the board carries 4 resistors, 3 capacitors, 2 ICs and 1 module.

It belongs with the dev boards & breakouts designs in this gallery.

KiCad 10 learning project: DIY SpO2 carrier board, guided build, DRC-clean, Gerbers

A KiCad learning project: schematic, custom symbols and footprints, PCB layout and Gerber export for a small pulse-oximeter carrier board (Arduino Nano + MAX30102 module + SSD1306 OLED + 3 push buttons + alarm LED).

This is a guided build. The base design follows HTM Workshop's tutorial series "KiCad Tutorial | Beginning to End" (parts 1-9): (youtube.com/@HTMWorkshop). The design and component set are theirs; this repo documents my build and what I checked on it.

Kicad spo2-board: common questions

What microcontroller does the Kicad spo2-board use?

The Kicad spo2-board is built around the Arduino_Nano_v3.x, from the AVR/Arduino family.

How big is the Kicad spo2-board?

The Kicad spo2-board measures 80 × 50 mm, has 4 copper layers and is 1.600198 mm thick.

How many components are on the Kicad spo2-board?

10 components, from 5 distinct parts. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the Kicad spo2-board design files?

From the andreimatei03/kicad-spo2-board repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout and the schematic; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the Kicad spo2-board design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with andreimatei03. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the Kicad spo2-board without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug AVR/Arduino firmware against it before you order a PCB.
