About the WifeSignal PCB

WifeSignal is an open source ESP32 PCB design by ariemeir, published on GitHub. It is a 2-layer board measuring 153.5 × 73 mm, with 5 components from 5 distinct parts.

Its main chip is the ESP32-C3 left, from the ESP32 family. By type, the board carries 3 connectors, 1 transistor and 1 resistor.

It belongs with the iot & wireless designs in this gallery.

From the project

A traffic light for the office door: a SwiftUI app, a 290-line aiohttp and bleak BLE bridge, ESP32-C3 firmware, a custom two-layer KiCad board, and a Fusion 360 script that generates the enclosure. In daily use.

Schematic, layout and fabrication output for the lamp-driver board.

Only WifeSignal3ch exists physically. The 1-channel variant is kept because it shows the design being narrowed before it was widened — the project briefly considered proving one channel in copper before committing to three, and decided the protoboard prototype had already answered that question.

WifeSignal: common questions

What microcontroller does the WifeSignal use?

The WifeSignal is built around the ESP32-C3 left, from the ESP32 family.

How big is the WifeSignal PCB?

The WifeSignal measures 153.5 × 73 mm, has 2 copper layers and is 1.6 mm thick.

How many components are on the WifeSignal?

5 components, from 5 distinct parts, with part numbers taken from the project's own BOM. The full bill of materials is listed on this page.

Where can I download the WifeSignal design files?

From the ariemeir/family-comms-signal repository on GitHub, which has the KiCad layout, the schematic and the BOM; the links under Design files point to each one.

Can I use the WifeSignal design in my own project?

The repository has no license, so all rights stay with ariemeir. Use it as a reference, and ask the author before reusing the design.

Can I test firmware for the WifeSignal without the hardware?

Yes. HardLabs builds a simulation of the board from its netlist and BOM, so you can run and debug ESP32 firmware against it before you order a PCB.
